Hidden Falls to Open July 1, 2018
There will be an opening on July 1, 2018 at Hidden Falls. Just under 43,000 chum were caught in the June 25th opening. Sex ratio was 70% male and age structure as follows: 1% six year olds, 59% five year olds, 39% four year olds, and 5% three year olds. Age structure is normal for this calendar date except for the three year olds. Typically we do not see three year olds until later in the run and usually only 2%. Overall, I am very encouraged by this age distribution. Best of luck Sunday.

Crawfish Inlet is in its maiden year for adult returns. Normally we would not expect many 3 year olds but this year is one for the books. We have accounted for over 40,000 fish, most of which has been harvested for cost recovery. A harvest boat will continue to harvest through Saturday. Depending on fish abundance and behavior we may suspend cost recovery for a few days to allow troll opportunity next week.

Big shoot out at head of Deep Inlet, diving dogs, and 117 boats (possibly a record). Reports indicate that something on the order of 200,000 chum will be caught today. Chum continue to enter the SHA at Long Island, million dollar pass, and Error Island in modest numbers. Good luck to the gillnetters tomorrow.

The report from Deep Inlet is there are 18 trollers fishing, the first day re-opening after the closure for cost recovery. I have no reports of how the harvest is going, but spotter pilots are seeing plenty of fish. The sex ratio from the Saturday August 26 cost recovery was 46% male, close to what we expected. The total return as of today is approximately 1.2 million with an in-season regression generated forecast of 1.6 million chum (broodstock, cost recovery, and common property). Seine catch might be 150,000 fish on Wednesday with another 140,000 fish in Bear Cove for broodstock plus,...
