This is beginning to look like a big week. Boats have already caught over 100,000 lbs this morning and there are large schools along Makhnati, Aluetkina, Camp Coogan, and back in the inlet. I am expecting this to be our biggest day yet. Egg takes began this weekend. We have gone through 6,000 chum to date.

Deep Inlet Cost Recovery – August 21 Harvest

Good numbers of chum moved in along Makhnati, Long Island passes, and Deep Inlet on Sunday. 220,000 lbs were caught on Sunday with decent numbers still showing at dark. As of the morning of August 22 we have 1.07 million lbs to go.

Fish moved in yesterday in decent numbers. Caught approximately 200,000 lbs today. That makes 1.24 million lbs to go. Boats will fish tomorrow if there are fish in the area.

Thursday August 18, the total harvested was 50,000 lbs. The remaining pounds to harvest is 1.45 million lbs. The input seems to have slowed, so the harvest boat will stand down unless we see a new build up of fish. The harvest boat has already looked this morning for opportunity.

Deep Inlet Cost Recovery August 18

Cost recovery steady but slow, 110,000 lbs taken on July 17th. This leaves 1.499 million lbs to finish it. Medvejie broodstock continues to build with an estimated 55 to 60,000 fish of the necessary 90,000. We have one boat fishing today at Deep Inlet. Based on the 51% male sex ratio taken on fish caught at Makhnati yesterday the run is close to the mid point. This strongly suggests the run will not reach forecast, but rather come in well below. The Hidden Falls portion of the Deep Inlet return came in at forecast, but the fall run segment appears weaker.
